Dear Parents,

“Good Vibrations” across the school community

The campus transformed over the summer, with classrooms and common areas getting a fresh update. The school's commitment to create spaces ignites curiosity and encourages collaboration.

With the foundation laid for a positive start, students were encouraged to take a moment to set their sights on the academic journey ahead. The importance of embracing challenges and aiming for excellence was emphasized in assemblies and classroom discussions. Students were encouraged to set goals for themselves, both academically and personally, and to strive for continuous improvement.

To set expectations for the new school year, students should:

  • reflect on last year. Think about where they were academically in the beginning, middle, and end of the school year,
  • take note of any changes as the year progresses.
  • establish new friendships in peer collaboration inside and outside classrooms, and
  • make a commitment on pre-lesson preparation to reach for the stars academically.

Exploring Exciting New Learning Initiatives

Our goal is always to align our teaching responsibilities and perspectives with Buddhist core values and teaching. So as to equip our LKL girls to serve the community by delivering excellent Buddhist education designed to cultivate their character, and prepare them for life, including tertiary education, we will offer a new Buddhist education program – a well-thought-out Induction program for the DSE elective, Ethics and Religious Studies, spanning at the coming Form 4 with clear outcomes based on our broader variety of DSE subject selection for our students.

Evidence of Learning

We are on a mission to help every student be the best that they can be. To do that, we find ways to help our LKL girls to reach their true potential. Always challenging oneself is a good process of gathering a variety of evidence of student learning. Self-challenging questions/ Bonus questions will be embedded within the cycles of assessment in Junior Forms (F.1-3).

Values Education

Last but not least, we believe in the importance of a holistic education, one that provides academic rigour but does not neglect character development. Our Value Education Committee will further enhance the quality of academic and non-academic activities for our girls, with greater emphasis on, and attention to, the 12 core values and attitudes: “Perseverance”, “Respect for Others”, “Responsibility”, “National Identity”, “Commitment”, “Integrity”, “Benevolence”, “Law-abidingness”, “Empathy”, “Diligence”, “Unity” and “Filial Piety”.

Extended Learning

Catering to students of all interests and skill levels, we always encourage every LKL girl to participate and discover the benefits of an active lifestyle. Last year, we entered our students with a diverse range of local and international competitions to enable them to acquire new skills, delve into unexplored areas of interest, and develop their talents. These offerings span across different countries and fields. The awards they won, both local and international, can motivate a spirit of challenge and perseverance among our girls.

Social Media Platforms of LKL Starting This Year

I invite you, starting this academic year, to read our official online platform that has all the information you need to stay up-to-date with our school, as well as to pay special attention to communications from me. I know how much you look forward to these platforms to support the school, and we very much look forward to them too! Please add the accounts (Facebook and Instagram) to your phone and prepare to celebrate the wonderfully rich and diverse community that makes up LKL!

Every single day and in every single classroom, we will see our LKL girls learning the skills they need to lead confident, healthy, successful lives.
